MY ART

Creativity is not a luxury

I've always been called to art. Like much of my story, I tuned out my creative calling. Despite having a wonderful Art teacher in junior high who pushed me to get my art displayed in the Centre of Education, I turn off the impractical and turned to sports instead.  

I moved forward in life thinking that the arts were a friviolous waste of time for someone who spent much of life in survival mode, and marched forward to capitalism. 

Something shifted for me in 2016 after I had my son, and once he started engaging in sensory play, a little fire ignited in me. In 2019, after a spiritual awakening—a Dark Night of the Soul—my passion for creativity ignited. 

I started tentatively with some acrylic pours, and after working hard to overcome my perfectionist and all-or-nothing mindset, I began to paint landscapes and florals. Today, I play mostly in acrylics and have started to explore watercolour paints. I hope you see something that lights a spark within you.
